Message from Mike – Fall/Winter 2017

Today someone asked me “What’s going on at Thrive?” Not an easy question to answer, as so much has been happening!

In October we kicked off our fall youth services activities, including our Kid’s Club and Thrive After School Community (TASC) programs. These services enable children and young adults to develop social skills, explore interests and make friends. At the same time, their caregivers receive respite to attend their other children’s afterschool activities, continue their workday, take care of errands, or simply to rest.

Leadership Experience And Development (LEAD) is an innovative youth initiative that also returned in October. LEAD empowers young adults (ages 17-25) with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become leaders in their communities, honing their ability to positively impact their own lives and the lives of others. We are seeking additional LEAD Mentors (the time commitment is only one hour a month through June 2018). Please let me know if you’re interested.

One reason for all the activity is our geographic growth. Eighteen months ago we were serving 15 Massachusetts communities. Today we serve 42 cities and towns, and the number continues to grow as demand for our innovative and individualized services increases.

With so much going on, we are continually on the lookout to increase our circle of friends. We have a saying at Thrive: “Friendraising before fundraising!” We ‘d love to connect with you, your employer, co-workers or friends to explore how you and they can get more involved with Thrive. Please contact me directly so we can set up a time to talk.

Your active support is fundamental to advancing our mission of empowering children, adults, and families to focus on ability and find opportunities to shine. Thank you for your friendship and generosity of spirit.

Mike
P.S. In our recent state relicensing review, we received a service quality score of 96 (out of 100). While we are proud of this accomplishment, we strive to do even better, every day.
