Opportunities & Experiences

Like our participants, Thrive's can-do attitude and proactive approach seeks creative solutions and promotes strengths, ensuring participants the opportunity they need to experience success and reach their potential.

Adult
Adult opportunities are for participants ages 25+. Thrive is committed to enhancing the lives of all participants, therefore, we are flexible with age ranges if the fit is appropriate.
Experiences
Thrive works to break through perceived barriers and surpass expectations so our participants can live the lives they've imagined. We offer experiences for youth and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities that foster feelings of belonging, accomplishment, and connection. Thrive believes that meaningful experiences develop a broader sense of self and lead to the discovery of our own unique potential. Activities are designed around the preferences and desires of Thrivers. Plus, we provide transportation to most events, as well as support and assistance to make these experiences safe and gratifying. With more than twenty experiences a month, there is bound to be something that piques your interest.
Social Activities
Thrive’s adult Social Activities focus on building self-esteem and challenging boundaries while creating feelings of belonging, accomplishment, and connection. Social Activities happen regularly, either weekly, monthly, or semi-monthly. We provide purposeful experiences that bring Thrivers (our participants) into the community and offer the community an appreciation for the unique gifts every individual has to offer.
Social Groups
Thrive's adult Social Groups bring together people with like-minded interests to share their skills or thoughts and create a community. Social Groups focus on creating meaningful moments while offering a sense of belonging, connection, support and open communication. Adult social groups spotlight interests such as self-advocacy, women empowerment, and cooking skills.
Special Events
Building a life of well-lived moments stems from trying new experiences and challenging yourself. We all look forward to those special times in our lives and Thrive’s Special Events offer the opportunity to get out into the community and beyond to fulfill dreams. Whether it’s going on a week-long cruise, cheering on the Pawtucket Red Sox, or singing and dancing at a country concert, Thrive’s Special Events occur at least once each month.
Sports and Recreation
Leading a healthy lifestyle is the cornerstone to creating a life filled with confidence, self-awareness, pride, and joy. Thrive’s sports and recreation activities promote this lifestyle while fostering friendships and creating true connections. Thrive discovers the unique strengths of each participant and designs opportunities that spawn success. Fitness programs are personalized so that each person can participate at their own level.
Learning/Education
Learning is a life-long process. Thrive offers learning opportunities for both participants and caregivers. If you are a participant interested in becoming a LEADer, Thrives’ year-long LEADership initiative trains young people to be leaders in their community. Or participants can learn about pertinent topics offered through Thrive’s participant workshops. Caregivers can take advantage of monthly workshops available on a variety of topics. Caregiver workshops bring together topic experts and caregivers to share experiences and learn from the best and brightest.
Workshops
Learning is a lifelong process. Keeping this in mind, Thrive offers workshops for both participants and caregivers. Participant workshops usually run in a series format and are aimed at educating participants about topics that interest them or will expand their independent living skills. Caregiver workshops bring families together to share experiences and learn from experts in the industry.
