MARLBOROUGH– The Main Street Bank Charitable Foundation awarded Thrive Support and Advocacy a $5,000 grant for their new Leadership Experience and Development (LEAD) initiative.

The LEAD program empowers young adults (ages 17-25) who live with intellectual and developmental challenges with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become leaders in their communities, honing their ability to positively impact their own lives and the lives of others. The program is a nine-month experience that includes weekly leadership development meetings and two planned community service projects. After the program, graduates can serve as alumni mentors for the following years participants. The LEAD program addresses a gap in services for young adults living with intellectual and developmental challenges and supports these young adults and their families as they begin to transition into the adult world.

About Thrive Support & Advocacy

Thrive Support & Advocacy (formerly Greater Marlboro Programs, Inc.) was founded in 1973 by a group of parents in the Marlborough area who were caring for children with special needs at home. At that time, the availability of support in the community was limited, and so the organization was created to provide a source of support and respite for these families. Today, through our unparalleled programs, proactive philosophy, and unfailing commitment to the participants and families we serve, Thrive helps create and nurture lives filled with happiness, meaning, and pride.
